Plans afoot to construct additional 200-bed building for Jayadeva hospital in Mysuru

Director of Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, Bengaluru, B. Dinesh said that there plans were afoot to construct an additional building of the hospital in Mysuru with a capacity of 200 beds.

Speaking after participating in the ‘Hridaya Taranga’ programme to mark 15 years of Jayadeva hospital in Mysuru on Saturday, Dr. Dinesh said that the number of patients the hospital was catering to had been increasing with each passing day.

Recalling the dedication of former Director of the hospital C.N. Manjunath in building the institution, Dr. Dinesh called upon the doctors and staff to ensure that the reputation of the hospital remains untarnished. He said that he was committed to safeguarding the interests and welfare of the 3,500-strong staff of the institute.

Dr. Dinesh assured to work towards regularising the employment of all the staff members and said an insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh will be extended to the families of the hospital staff.

He stated that he was working towards establishing one hospital in each of the five metropolitan areas of Bengaluru, besides one each in three districts of the State.

Medical Superintendent of Jayadeva hospital in Mysuru K.S. Sadananda said that the Mysuru facility had treated a total of 16 lakh patients so far. “We have treated 40,000 inpatients, performed 75,000 cath-lab procedures, 4,000 surgeries, 73,000 echocardiograms, and 10 lakh ECG tests,” Mr. Sadananda said. The Mysuru facility of the Jayadeva hospital had been catering to Mysuru and the neighbouring districts, he added.
