A plea has been submitted to the State government to address pay disparities among consolidated employees, and to implement annual transfers of senior Block Resource Teacher Educators (BRTEs) under Samagra Shiksha.
L. Prabu B., general secretary of the Anna Accountants’ Association, said over 1,400 consolidated employees, including accountants, data entry operators, Management Information System (MIS) coordinators, computer programmers and building engineers, have faced unequal pay for nearly 15 years. While staff in similar roles in other departments receive uniform pay, those under Samagra Shiksha continue to draw different salaries, he said.
He said repeated representations to the State Project Director had not brought a solution and urged the government to ensure equal pay for equal work.
Citing a Government Order dated August 18, 2021, he said 500 senior BRTEs were transferred to government schools as graduate teachers on the basis of seniority, with a provision for 500 such transfers every year. However, this has not been implemented in later years.
He said annual transfers would help fill graduate teacher vacancies, ensure effective use of funds under Samagra Shiksha, and create employment for graduates. The association urged the government to resolve the pay disparities and carry out the annual BRTE transfers.
