A Plus Two student, P. Dhanush, 17, of Sundarajapuram, was killed in a road accident involving two motorbikes on Melur-Natham Road here on Sunday.
The police said that boy, who was studying in Thoothukudi, had come home for Deepavali festival. He had stayed back to take care of farming activities.
On Sunday, he had taken an empty water can kept over the petrol tank of a bike. As the can fell down, he tried to catch it and lost balance.
The bike hit a moped and he fell down in which he sustained head injuries. He was declared dead at the Government Hospital in Melur. The Melavalavu police are investigating.
