The Greater Chennai Police’s Drug Disposal Committee (DDC), formed under the orders of Commissioner A. Arun, carried out the scientific disposal of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances on Saturday.
The operation took place at the authorised incineration facility in Thenmelpakkam, near Chengalpattu, in full compliance with environmental and legal standards.
A total of 1,023 kg of contraband ganja, seized in 197 cases involving narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances from various police stations across Chennai, was destroyed.
