The Coimbatore District Police on Sunday warned of initiating legal actions against persons spreading false news that women are not allowed for the Thiruvilakku Pooja to be held at Ellai Karupparayan Temple at Onnipalayam in Coimbatore district on November 4.
The police stated that some important dignitaries are expected to take part in the ceremony, for which some guidelines have been recommended. However, some persons misrepresented the same and spread false information that women are barred from participating in the ceremony.
The District Police stated that stringent legal action would be taken against those spreading such false information. Police sources said Vice-President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan and several other dignitaries are expected to take part in the ceremony.
