Pondicherry University moves up sustainability rankings

Pondicherry University has improved its QS Sustainability Rankings 2026 to secure 45th position among Indian peer institutions.

A press note said the University ranked at 1,021–1,030 among 1,994 participating institutions and at 361 out of 827 institutions in Asia, in the rankings that evaluate a set of parameters, including sustainability, societal impact and environmental responsibility. At the national level, Pondicherry University secured the 45th position from among 103 Indian institutions as participants.

A significant achievement for the current cycle is the University’s inclusion and performance in the Central Universities category, where it has secured 7th rank out of 56 participating Central Universities.

In addition to sustainability-related initiatives, the University has improved its score across environmental conservation activities, green campus campaigns, socially impactful programmes, and research aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the University said.

P. Prakash Babu, Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry University, commended the efforts of faculty members, officers, staff, research scholars and students, while calling for sustained commitment to further elevate Pondicherry University’s standing in the years ahead.
