Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Member of Parliament Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday, November 3, urged residents of Udupi district to participate in large numbers at the Sardar@150 Unity Walk which will kick off on November 11 in Udupi.
Chairing a preparatory meeting for the Unity Walk, which has been organised to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Rajatadri, the district office complex in Manipal, Mr. Poojary asked the district administration to make all necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of the walk.
He said the Unity Walk will start at the Board High School premises in the city at 7.30 a.m. and culminate at the War Memorial in Ajjarkad Bhujanga Park. Resource persons will deliver a talk on the late Patel at the end of the walk, he said.
Mr. Poojary said the administration should encourage students, parents, National Service Scheme volunteers, National Cadet Corps cadets, people’s representatives, officials, general public, members of various associations, ex-servicemen, and others to participate in the walk in large numbers. Cultural performances and band performances should also be organised during the walk, the MP added.
Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abid Gadyal, Additional Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Naik, and others were present.
