A power outage struck King George Hospital (KGH) causing significant hardship for patients and their attendants here on Thursday (November 7, 2025). Except for the ICU, NICU, and a few other critical wards, most sections of the hospital remained without electricity for several hours. The lack of lights and fans left many, particularly elderly patients and pregnant women, struggling in the heat. Some relatives resorted to using hand fans to provide relief and use mobile phones to light.

According to hospital sources, the outage occurred due to a disturbance in electrical wiring during maintenance work near the Critical Care Unit. Power supply is expected to be restored by nightfall, as per the KGH authorities.
