President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the Navy Day celebrations and Operational Demonstration planned on December 3 at the Shangumugham beach here.

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi will host the event.

A full dress rehearsal will be held at the venue on November 29 and December 1, said Commodore Viju Samuel. The Indian Navy will showcase its prowess at the event which is planned for December 3 afternoon.

As a prelude to the event, the Navy conducted a Naval Band Concert at the Nishagandhi Auditorium on Wednesday. The event showcased the musical excellence of the 55-member band of the Southern Naval Command (SNC).

Under the baton of Commander Manoj Sebastian, Principal Conductor, the Naval Symphonic Band presented an eclectic mix of musical pieces, including martial selections, retro Hollywood and Bollywood themes, Carnatic fusion, and patriotic compositions, a defence spokesperson said.

Tourism secretary Biju K. was the chief guest on the occasion. Rear Admiral Samir Kapoor, Command Medical Officer, Southern Naval Command (SNC), presented the SNC Crest to Mr. Biju.
