Prevent accidents at danger spots in Nellore: Collector to NH officials

District Collector Himanshu Shukla on Thursday directed the officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to take preventive measures at nine danger spots from Buja Buja Nellore to Bhagat Singh Colony in SPSR Nellore district.

He was chairing the road safety committee meeting at Collectorate here on Thursday, along with Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla and other officials.

Mr. Shukla suggested to the officials to install speed breakers and fluorescent indications at accident-prone areas, as well as signage boards and solar blinking lights at the intersections of the national highways.

He ordered APSRTC officials to ensure that buses don’t stop when entering and exiting the RTC bus stand. He also asked the police department personnel to spread awareness among the people about traffic rules.

Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Traffic Police jointly examined the main junctions of RTC Bus Stand, Madras Bus Stand, Atmakur Bus Stand and Stonehousepet. They were instructed to prevent encroachments on the road margins.

The traffic police were advised to identify parking spaces and take steps to ensure that traffic is not disrupted during the busy hours of the day.

In the beginning of the meeting, the SP explained the steps to be taken to prevent road accidents. The meeting was attended by ASP Soujanya and NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan.
