Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Coimbatore on November 19 to address the South India Natural Farming Summit 25 to be hosted in Coimbatore by farmers’ associations in Tamil Nadu, to take forward farming practices propagated by late G. Nammazhvar, organic farming expert.

The Prime Minister, after his inaugural address, will interact with 50 scientists specialising in organic agriculture from the Southern States at tje CODISSIA Hall, to chalk out policies for broad-basing Natural farming.

Seeking to raise awareness and encourage adoption of natural and regenerative farming practices, the Summit is designed to cultivate a people-driven movement to advance agriculture that is economically viable and socially inclusive, P.R. Pandian, Co-ordinator of the Organising Committee told media persons on Wednesday.

The highlights of the Summit include 300 exhibition stalls, interactive sessions by eminent scientists/ policy-makers, live demonstrations, and a focus on youth and women engagement.

The Summit, Mr. Pandian said, was an outcome of six region-wise meetings across the State chaired by former Vice-Chancellors of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, factoring in diverse perspectives from farmers, policy makers and experts, enabling a comprehensive understanding of regional needs and agro-climatic variations.

The event anchored by national initiatives including Bharatiya Prakritik Krishi Paddi (BPKP) and Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) would be entirely apolitical, Mr. Pandian claimed.
