Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt on November 28 to attend the geethothsava programme, Udupi Paryaya and Putthige Mutt seer Sugunendra Tirtha said on Thursday.
Addressing presspersons in Udupi, the seer, who will complete his fourth paryaya on January 17, 2026, said that geethothsava programmes will be held in Sri Krishna Mutt from November 8 to December 7.
Vishwaprasanna Tirtha, seer of Udupi Pejawar Mutt, will inaugurate the geethothsava at 5 p.m. on November 8.
The geethothsava is aimed at sensitising people on the importance and relevance of the Bhagavad Gita and to pass the message of peace to the world, the seer said.
He said that Mr. Modi will recite the last 10 shlokas (verses) of the Bhagavad Gita during the culmination of ‘laksha kanta Gita gayana’ event on November 28 at about 12.30 p.m. The venue of the event is the car parking area of the mutt.
The seer said that ‘laksha kanta Gita gayana’, in which devotees will recite shlokas of the Bhagavad Gita, will begin at 9.30 a.m. on November 28.
He said that the Prime Minister will also unveil the gold coated ‘Thirtha Mantapa’ and gold coated ‘Kanakana Kindi’ on the Sri Krishna Mutt premises.
Expecting a rush of people on November 28, the seer said that he would invite devotees from Udupi, Hassan, Shivamogga, Kasaragod, and Uttara Kannada and nearby places to be part of the event as people from distant regions may find it difficult to get accommodation in Udupi on that day.
Earlier, Mr. Modi had visited Sri Krishna Mutt during Sugunendra Tirtha’s previous paryaya term when Mr. Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The seer said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to participate in Santha Sangama- Bhajanothsava programme at the mutt on November 30 at 4 p.m.
