Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a 77-foot tall bronze Ram statue during the 550th year celebration of Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt in Partagali, near Canacona, in Goa on November 28.
Talking to reporters in Mangaluru on Monday, Mukund Kamath, joint convener of Sardha Panchashatamanotsava organising committee, said the statue was sculpted by Ram Suthar and his son Anil Suthar. The statue will be the tallest in South India. It took nearly a year for the work to be completed, which was done at an estimated cost of ₹15 crore.
Mr. Kamath said the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the 3D projection mapping of the statue. Using this, the mutt will have regular audio-visual shows in front of the statue every day. The mutt will shortly open a garden conceptualised on the Ramayana. A 3-D theatre and a museum will also come up on the mutt premises.
A mint coin and a commemorative stamp will also be released on the occasion , he said.
Pradeep G. Pai, convener of the programme, said mutt seer Vidyadheesh Tirth Shreepad Vader intends to develop Partagali as a southern part of Ayodhya and add the place in country’s religious tourism map.
The 11-day Sardha Panchashatamanotsava will start from November 27. Around 1.2 lakh devotees are expected to take part in the event. The seer has renovated the main mutt in Partagali and created space for research of ancient religious text in Sanskrit. The seer has also built rooms for stay of devotees on the main mutt premises, Mr. Pai said.
