Prohibitory orders in place around waste treatment plant

District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh on Friday (October 31, 2025) issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita covering around 300 metre-radius of the Ambayathode-based slaughterhouse waste treatment factory as part of measures in place to counter law and order issues.

Police officers from Thamarassery station said all public protests and assembling of four or more persons in the area would be banned for a week in the specified area following the Collector’s order. It would also cover the Ambayathode junction, they added.  

On Friday, the plant resumed operations following the approval of the District-level Facilitation and Monitoring Committee. It had been remaining closed for over a week following a public protest which ended up in a clash with the police on October 21.
