Members of the Project Employees’ Co-operative House Building Society Ltd. at Srisailam Colony in Vengalayapalem village of Guntur Rural mandal have urged the State government to resolve a long-pending land and layout regularisation issue.
In a statement issued in Guntur on Wednesday, the society’s president, Adapa Raja Suresh Kumar, said that 320 former employees of the Srisailam Dam Project had purchased about 32 acres at Vengalayapalem in 1986. The land was developed into an approved residential layout with 320 individual plots, parks, internal roads, and community facilities, and was sanctioned by the then Vijayawada–Guntur–Tenali Development Authority (VGTDA).
Over the years, many retired employees have built homes and settled there with their families. However, during a comprehensive review of historical land records undertaken by the State government in 2019, certain survey numbers belonging to the society were inadvertently included in the list of prohibited properties, affecting this long-established residential colony.
Since then, members have faced repeated administrative hurdles and continued listing of their plots under the prohibited category, causing difficulties in property transactions, registrations, and access to civic amenities. Mr. Suresh Kumar appealed to the government to take prompt steps to resolve the issue.
