Walkers International (District-102) and former Regional Councillor and retired teacher A. Satyam on Sunday urged seniors to promote a walking culture among children and youth, as a majority of them were not interested in walking and physical exercise due to changes in their lifestyle.

Mr. Satyam was felicitated by the 1983-84 alumni of A.R. Puram School, Cheedikada mandal at a meeting organised in Padmanabham mandal of Visakhapatnam district on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Satyam said that many schools lack infrastructure, playgrounds and other facilities, depriving children of opportunities to play outdoors in the school. He emphasised that walking would be the right option for children as it will help them build physical strength which is needed to improve academic performance.
