Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the proposal to create a ‘Greater Mysuru’ will be discussed in the Cabinet before it is taken forward.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Tuesday, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he had already held a preliminary round of discussion on the creation of a ‘Greater Mysuru’. The proposal will be brought before the Cabinet and discussed, he said.
The proposal to construct flyovers in Mysuru will be considered after creation of ‘Greater Mysuru’.
As part of the ‘Greater Mysuru’ proposal, the existing Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will be upgraded into a Grade I City Corporation by adding the areas falling under the limits of various urban local bodies like the City Municipal Council and Town Panchayats on the outskirts of Mysuru with the existing areas of MCC.
Fyovers
When his attention was drawn to the opposition from certain quarters to the construction of flyovers in Mysuru city, Mr. Siddaramaiah said no final decision has been taken yet on the proposal to construct flyovers. “Only preliminary discussions had been held. It will be discussed when it comes before the Cabinet,” he added.
₹400 crore for white-topping
The Chief Minister said he has set aside ₹400 crore for white-topping of major roads in Mysuru city.
While two years time has been given for completing the work on white-topping of roads, Mr. Siddaramaiah said a quality control team headed by Deputy Commissioner has been constituted to ensure quality of the roads. “There will be no compromise on the quality,” he said.
