The Saroor Nagar police on Friday evening arrested a lodge manager, a woman and a man after they were found involved in a prostitution racket being run out of ‘Honest Lodge’ in Dilsukhnagar.
The case was booked after Saroor Nagar SHO V. Saidi Reddy received information at around 6 p.m. on November 21 that the lodge was being used for commercial sex work.
Officer Saidi Reddy, along with other staff, conducted a check at the lodge. “The managers, identified as Sattipandu, Appalanaidu and Naresh, had been allowing prostitution on the premises without entering any names in the reception register. Transgenders and sex workers were frequenting the Dilsukhnagar Metro Station area and the lodge,” said the officer.
During the search, police found that a male customer and a female customer had been given a room with a sex worker without any documentation. All three, including the lodge manager on duty, were arrested. A case was registered under section 44(2) of the BNS and sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Prohibition of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). The accused were sent to remand and the victim was shifted to a rescue home.
