A joint forum of various fishers’ organisations staged a protest here on Tuesday (November 11, 2025) against the implementation of the seaplane project.
Fisherfolk staged a protest near the Bolgatty waterdrome here, voicing their concerns over the project. They alleged that the seaplane initiative would affect the livelihoods of local fishers in Kochi and other identified areas.
Charles George, convener of the joint forum, said in a communication that the seaplane project would seriously affect the prospects of inland fishers. He added that the joint forum had also voiced its opposition to the deployment of large vessels for deep-sea fishing and mining.
