Tension prevailed at a private degree college in MVP Colony after a large number of students and the parents of Sai Teja (20) staged a protest on Saturday, alleging that harassment by a female lecturer had driven him to end his life. The agitated students even attempted to enter the college premises, demanding justice for Sai Teja.

According to the protesters, a lecturer from the college had been mentally and sexually harassing Sai Teja. They said he had informed his parents about the issue, following which they visited the college on October 31 to take it up with the management. However, while his parents were at the college, Sai Teja reportedly died by suicide at home. The parents alleged that despite protests continuing for the past 24 hours, the college management has not responded. MVP police have registered a case and begun an investigation. They are retrieving call data records as part of the probe.

Those in distress can contact helpline number 100.
