Public Accounts Committee inspects projects in Kallakurichi

The Public Accounts Committee led by its chairperson K. Selvaperunthagai inspected various facilities and ongoing projects in Kallakurichi district on Monday.

The committee visited the Fire and Rescue Services Station at Thiyagadurgam near here and checked the functioning of fire tenders. They also checked fire fighting equipment at the station and whether the fire services vehicles were in use for more than 10 years from the date of their manufacture.

Later, the team inspected the Prithvimangalam tank and checked with officials on the proposed improvement works to be taken up in the tank.

The panel members also visited the Sri Arthanareeswar temple in Rishivandiyam and reviewed the ongoing restoration works and proposed consecration of the temple. They directed the authorities to expedite the works.

The committee also inspected the construction of a new bus stand at a cost of ₹1.98 crore at Chinnasalem town panchayat.

The panel members held a review meeting at the Collectorate in which Collector M. Prasanth participated.
