Chief Minister N. Rangasamy recently launched a smart classroom project, being implemented in collaboration with Indus Towers Limited, a telecom infrastructure provider.
According to a press note, Mr. Rangasamy, while speaking at the launch, noted that with the smart classrooms being established as part of the company’s CSR initiative, Puducherry’s children would be stepping into a future where learning knows no boundaries.
The CSR initiative ‘Saksham,’ aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Digital India’ mission and implemented by NIIT Foundation, seeks to boost digital literacy for over 3,000 beneficiaries, including 844 students, equip 132 teachers and 2,597 community members through awareness sessions in Puducherry.
The smart classrooms will be equipped with a computer, LED Smart TV, printer, and reliable power backup. The programme also empowers educators with hands-on training and digital resources to enhance classroom instruction, while enabling students to access modern learning experiences on par with urban schools.
Harvinder Singh, Circle CEO, Indus Towers Limited, said beyond ushering in technology, smart classrooms held out a promise of possibility. “By turning traditional classrooms into smart learning spaces, we are giving children in Puducherry the tools to build brighter futures,” he said.
Home and Education Minister A. Namassivayam, K. Ezhil Calpana, State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha and M. Kullasekaran, Chief Educational Officer also participated.
