The Uppinangady police have arrested Abdul Hasheem, 34, of Paduvannooru village in Puttur Taluk for allegedly producing a fake property document as surety for release of a crime accused on bail.

N. Aboobacker, a resident of Nekkilady village, filed a complaint with the police stating that a person named Aboobacker had used the record of his 8.5 acre-land in Nekkilady as surety for the release of Syed Mohammmed on bail by Dakshina Kannada Principal District and Sessions Court in Special Case No.34/2025.

In the investigation, the police found that Hasheem had taken the property record of Mr. Aboobacker. He tampered with his Aadhaar card to change the name to Aboobacker. He claimed he was Mr. Aboobacker and produced the property record before the Sessions Court for the release of Syed Mohammed.
