The Anna Nagar police on Friday (December 5, 2025) arrested a 42-year-old person for allegedly operating an unauthorised ayurvedic hospital and prescribing allopathic medicines to patients.
A senior official from the city police said complaints were received from various patients by the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services that A. Venkatesan of Perambur, who reportedly has no training in medicine, has been running an ayurvedic hospital on Anna Nagar 2nd Main Road without permissions.
Based on the complaint, a team led by Sukumaran of the Arignar Anna Government Hospital, Arumbakkam, along with senior police officials, was deputed to conduct an investigation at the hospital on Friday. The health officials, during the investigation, confirmed that Venkatesan had not even passed Class 10, and had not undergone any training in medicine.
The police team arrested Venkatesan and confiscated medicines from the ayurvedic hospital. The Anna Nagar police have registered a case under three sections, including those of the Indian Medical Council Act.Â
