Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said here on Monday that the issue of Rahul Mamkootathil, MLA, was being projected now to cover up the theft and related problems at Sabarimala.

He claimed that the case against Mr.  Mamkootathil was merely a CPI(M)-orchestrated drama. “He is an MLA foisted on Palakkad’s voters, and the Congress brought him here knowing he was not a good person,” Mr.  Chandrasekhar said.

He pointed out that the government could have filed a case against Mr. Mamkootathil months ago, but the issue is being revived to divert attention from the Sabarimala controversy.

He added that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) would keep probing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The BJP president dismissed critics who described the ED’s action politically driven, saying that their statements were stupid.
