Tambaram Corporation has laid a new concrete surface along the entire stretch of Railway Border Road, adjoining MIT in Radha Nagar, which had remained in a poor condition for several years.
The Hindu Downtown had highlighted the poor state of the road in its November 16 issue, drawing attention to the potholes and uneven patches that made daily movement difficult for motorists and pedestrians.
Commuters now hope that adequate street lighting will also be provided along the stretch to improve safety, particularly for women and senior citizens who use the EMU services during early and late hours.
Civic activists said they were demanding this for years, and were happy that this has been done now. They thanked the Tambaram Corporation and elected representatives.
