APSRTC and the Railways operated special services to cater to the demand from air passengers in view of the cancellation of flights. A special train 08501/08502 between Visakhapatnam and SMVT Bengaluru is being operated by East Coast Railway to clear the extra rush of passengers. Train 08501 Visakhapatnam–SMVT Bengaluru special will leave Visakhapatnam on December 8 at 3.20 p.m. and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 12.45 p.m. on December 9.

In the return direction, train 08502 SMVT Bengaluru–Visakhapatnam special will leave SMVT Bengaluru on December 9 at 3.50 p.m. and arrive at Visakhapatnam Junction at 1.30 p.m. on December 10. The special will run with about 20 coaches, including 2nd AC, 3rd AC, Sleeper, General Class and Second Class luggage-cum-brake vans. It is learnt that the train is being operated to ease the rush of passengers between Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru following the cancellation of IndiGo flights.

Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam region of RTC operated a special sleeper bus from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad on Sunday and it received an overwhelming response, according to District Passenger Transportation Manager B. Appala Naidu. Another semi luxury seater bus was also operated but the response was not encouraging. Two special buses were also operated to Vijayawada.
