Congress MP Rajmohan Unnithan on Friday (November 28) launched a scathing attack on suspended party leader Rahul Mamkootathil, saying the Congress had no choice but to take action after finding substance in the allegations against him.
He accused Mamkootathil of challenging both the complainant and the media, and of deploying a PR agency to target senior Congress leaders.
Commenting on former KPCC president K. Sudhakaran, Mr. Unnithan said Sudhakaran’s frequent shifts in position had led to his removal from the post. He added that those within the party who continued to back Mamkootathil were not behaving like responsible Congress workers.
Mr. Unnithan said the legal process in the case must move forward without interference and that no one could halt it. According to him, Mamkootathil’s once-promising political career has now collapsed entirely.
“The situation has reached a point where he will not be able to return to politics,” Mr. Unnithan said, reiterating that the episode has inflicted irreversible damage on the leader.
