Minister for Transport, Sports and Youth Services Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Friday (December 5) reiterated that the administration led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for Education Nara Lokesh is carrying out innovative reforms to bring government schools up to corporate-grade quality.

He mentioned that the Mega Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings seek to strengthen the rapport among parents, teachers and students to enhance performance. The meeting was held at Zilla Parishad High School in Mallur of Chinnamandem mandal in Annamayya district. Mr. Ramprasad Reddy stressed the importance of community participation in crafting students’ futures.

The Minister highlighted the initiatives such as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan uniforms, enhanced midday meals through the Dokka Seethamma scheme, quality rice and an annual transport subsidy of ₹6,000 for students commuting over long distances. He also mentioned that free bus rides and the Stree Shakti programme have contributed to attendance.

Collector Nishant Kumar said that joint supervision by parents and teachers would play a crucial role in education reforms. He mentioned that classes 9 and 10 play a role in shaping career decisions, and insufficient guidance frequently results in dropouts.
