Former Puducherry Chief Minister and Congress leader V. Narayanasamy on Monday said he was prepared to subject himself for probe by any agency with respect to the purchase of drugs (now being described as sub-standard) for government hospitals in 2019 during his tenure.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Narayansamy said he has not dealt with the file related to the purchase of sub-standard drugs currently being investigated by the Vigilance and Anti Corruption wing of Puducherry Police.
“I have issued a statement welcoming the probe and offered myself for any inquiry. Now my family members are being dragged into the controversy. The government could probe me and my family for any involvement in the purchase of the drugs,” he said.
The former Chief Minister also alleged that the present government had purchased medicines from the same company which was now being accused of supplying sub-standard medicines in 2019. “Chief Minister N. Rangasamy handles the Health Department. The VAC wing should probe the purchases made by the present government also,” he said.
