Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who is also Minister in charge of Hassan district, instructed the officers to redress public grievances and applications within the stipulated time, as per the law. He gave this direction while redressing public grievances at Channarayapatna on Tuesday.
The Minister said that the district administration would accept all the petitions submitted in the event and redirect them to officers concerned. “Each petition needs to be handled differently. The applications seeking the sanction of borewells need to be handled by the concerned legislator. Similarly, petitions seeking houses need to be addressed by the concerned gram panchayat. The administration will clear those application which can be resolved immediately. The rest will go to concerned departments. The officers should dispose them of within the stipulated time,” he stated.
A majority of the petitions regarding the Revenue Department, were related to durasthi, restoring or correcting the survey records. “In the last five years only 500 applications of durasthi had been cleared by the government. However, in the current year the process to clear 25,000 cases has begun and of them around 13,000 to 14,000 cases have been cleared,” the Minister said.
The district administration had set up counters to receive petitions from the public. As many as 786 applications were submitted by the public. The Minister heard the petitions and directed the officers concerned to handle them.
