Revenue officials stage sit-in protest at Collectorate

After having abstained from the weekly grievances redress meeting, the Revenue officials, including the tahsildars, staged sit-in protest at the Collectorate on Monday demanding the early transfer of officials as requested by them for personal reasons.

The protesters said some of them had submitted petition seeking their transfers for personal reasons and on medical grounds. “Since no decision has been taken on our requests, we are protesting,” said M. Subbu, Tirunelveli district president of Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers’ Association.

After holding talks with District Collector R. Sukumar, the two-hour-long agitation was withdrawn around 1 p.m.

“The Collector has agreed to consider our requests for transfer immediately,” Mr. Subbu said.
