Imagine a surgery being interrupted midway and put on hold indefinitely. The patient would need to be monitored and supported from a whole new perspective. East Abhiramapuram First Street is that patient, milled weeks ago and abandoned in that state. As the street lies in a state of limbo, motorists are paying for it. Whenever it rains, water fills up the grooves in the milled road. Mud joins in. The combination can be unsettling for motorcyclists. This image was taken on October 22, 2025, after a mild downpour. On the day (November 8, 2025) when this report went to press, the road was yet to be relaid.  And obviously, with the monsoon well and truly entrenched now, it cannot receive the redeeming roll of road-relaying machine. This road’s stay in the limbo is going to be extended, unfortunately for residents and motorists.

The road was milled in the second week of September (if not first), which provided a sufficiently wide window to relay the road, ahead of the monsoon. But that opportunity was missed. Even when the monsoon was at the door, there was inaction. With the NE monsoon having walked in through the door and making itself at home, a road-relaying exercise seems absurd. The new bandage is going to come off easily. But to leave the road in a milled state would be a disservice to motorists. If ever there was a really knotty catch-22 situation, this is it.

Sridhar, a resident of East Abhiramapuram First Street, notes that this situation on this road is another manifestation of poor civic planning in the region.
