RPF, GRP officials hand over ₹11-lakh gold ornaments to owners

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials handed over recovered gold ornaments worth nearly ₹11 lakh to the owners under ‘Operation Amanat’.

The RPF officers, on Sunday, received information that a couple had left their baggage in train while travelling from Annavaram to Vijayawada. The couple had placed their two trolley bags inside the train coach. While the husband, B. Viswanadh Reddy, boarded the train, his wife failed to get into the coach, forcing Mr. Reddy to de-board and leave the bags inside the train.

RPF ASI M. Srinivasulu of Rajamahendravaram recovered the luggage which had gold ornaments worth ₹8.10 lakh in them and handed it to the owners.

In another operation, a passenger reported that a gold bracelet had gone missing from the Vande Bharat Express travelling from Renigunta to Tenali, the South Central Railway (SCR) officials said in a release on Monday.

Acting on the complaint, RPF SI M. Makatlal Naik, ASI A. Bhaskara Rao and GRP staff met guard Sai Ram and recovered the gold bracelet worth nearly ₹3 lakh. They handed it over to the passenger, who thanked and appreciated the RPF and the GRP officers for their commitment and sincerity.
