
Heavy rain lashed Salem district on Sunday.

Salem and Namakkal districts registered moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
In Salem district, rain started on Saturday evening. Strong winds uprooted a tree near the Yercaud Government Hospital and also damaged the power cables . Power supply to many hamlets and the Yercaud Government Hospital was disrupted for more than three hours. Tangedco staff removed the tree from the road and replaced the damaged cables. Four goats were killed in Vazhapadi, after overhead power cables in a farmland owned by Srinivasan snapped and fell on them.
Salem city received heavy rain early Sunday morning. In the 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m., Salem received 180.50 mm rainfall, including 44 mm in Nathakarai, 24 mm each in Thammampatti and Veeraganoor, 18 mm in Gangavalli, 14 mm in Sankari, 13.5 mm in Vazhapadi, 10 mm in Yethapur, 7 mm in Puludikkuttai, 6.6 mm in Yercaud, 6.5 mm in Attur, 5 mm in Kariyakovil, 4.2 mm in Edappadi, 2.2 mm in Salem Collectorate and 1.5 mm in Omalur.
Namakkal district received 71 mm rainfall , including 16 mm in Paramathi Velur, 11 mm in Namakkal, 10 mm in Rasipuram, 9 mm in Kolli Hills Semmedu, 7.40 mm in Mangalapuram, 5 mm in Puduchatram, 4.60 mm in Senthamangalam, and 4 mm each in Tiruchengode and Collectorate.
