As part of the Smart Cities Mission, the Salem Corporation will be handing over an Integrated Command and Control Centre Vehicle (ICCC) to the Salem City Police for controlling and monitoring the crowd.
The Salem Corporation, which purchased the vehicle at a cost of ₹14 lakh, will hand over the vehicle to the city police. The vehicle has modern facilities including a laptop with an 18.5” screen that meets ENS standards, which will operational on all kinds of roads, including rugged terrains, wireless with a 3G/4G connection; GPS equipment attached to the vehicle tracking system; one full HD mobile PTZ camera with built-in illumination and two fixed cameras; 24 hours of local storage for all cameras on the vehicle (video storage should be stored in primary storage for seven days and 23 days in secondary storage); and a local area network that connects cameras, laptops, storage, wireless base station, and an IP phone.
Along with these, there is a UPS battery, a generator facility, solar panels, a microphone, a speaker, two computers, eight focus lights, 45- and 55-inch televisions, a three-person swivel chair, and a five-seater chair in the vehicle.
Corporation officials said the police will bear the necessary expenses for fuel, operation, and maintenance of the vehicle. A resolution was passed in the recent council meeting and consent was given to register the vehicle in the name of police through the Salem (West) Regional Transport Office, officials added.
Salem Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan said the order was issued for the vehicle and soon it will be handed over to the police.
