Political Analyst and writer Telakapalli Ravi, Sahithi Sravanti State Secretary Cheekati Diwakar, and representatives of more than 50 cultural and literary organisations have urged the government to establish a Cultural University in the name of Mahakavi Gurajada Apparao in Vizianagaram. They said that it would be a fitting tribute to the great writer, while protecting the culture and tradition of Andhra Pradesh, through continuous research and studies at the proposed university.

Marking Gurajada Apparao’s death anniversary, the groups organised a rally from M.R. College junction to the Zilla Parishad office on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ravi urged the government to celebrate Gurajada’s birth and death anniversaries as State festivals. Mr. Diwakar called for poems such as Desamunu Preminchumanna-Manchi Annadi Penchumanna and others be included in all the textbooks so that future generations could draw inspiration and understand the poet’s great literary contribution to society.

Former MP D.V.G. Sankara Rao, former MLC and Jana Vignana Vedika State president K.S. Lakshmana Rao, district president M.V.N. Venkata Rao, writers Attada Appala Naidu, Ganteda Gowru Naidu and others participated in the event.
