A school bus was gutted in fire allegedly following a clash between the bus driver and a cleaner at Papinenipalli village of Ardhaveedu mandal in Prakasam district, on Tuesday morning. However, no casualties were reported as the incident took place when no students were inside the bus
According to the police, Nabi, 60-year-old driver of the private school bus, called Rajagopal, cleaner of another bus, to the parking place at 7 a.m. citing the bus had some starting problem, which led to an argument between the two. Earlier, Rajagopal had complained to the school principal that Nabi was not driving properly due to vision issues, and was selling diesel from the bus to others as a side hustle.
Police are yet to confirm the reason behind the incident. Meanwhile, Nabi suffered burn injuries at his back. Though locals came to the spot later to put off the fire, no one witnessed the fight between the two.
Nabi was initially admitted in a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Ardhaveedu, and then shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC) in Markapuram for better treatment. The investigation is underway.
