The CBI Court, Vijayawada, sentenced an Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADE) working in South Central Railway (SCR), Bhimavaram, to undergo one year imprisonment in a bribery case.
Acting on a complaint, sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against M. Dharma Rao on November 29, 2006, for demanding a digital camera worth ₹11,200 to clear the bills of a contractor. The accused was caught while accepting the camera in exchange for clearing bills of ₹1.87 lakh.
The CBI court, on Friday, awarded imprisonment, besides imposing ₹1,500 fine on the accused, sources said.
