South Central Railway (SCR) has launched a new digital initiative to streamline identity verification for outsourced personnel with the introduction of the Outsourcing Employees ID Cards Management (OEID) web application on Tuesday.
SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava inaugurated the OEID system, which is designed to generate QR-based ID cards through two dedicated modules — department (administrative) and contractor. The platform ensures secure and efficient processing with features such as role-based access, OTP-based login, document uploads (including photo, Aadhaar, and medical certificates) and a two-level verification and approval workflow before ID issuance.
Earlier, he chaired a focused safety review meeting, emphasising the importance of obtaining method and supervision statements before commencing any fieldwork. He stressed the need for timely communication to higher officials regarding any disruptions or unusual incidents during train operations or on the tracks.
The meeting, attended by operational heads and divisional managers from all six divisions — Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Nanded, Guntur and Guntakal — also addressed winter preparedness. Special attention was given to signalling systems, train lighting and air-conditioning performance to ensure operational readiness in the coming months.
Additional safety concerns such as deficiencies at level crossings, fire safety alarms, freight and coaching alarms (particularly in LHB coaches), cable integrity and cattle run-over incidents were also discussed.
Mr. Srivastava emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination and called for the issuance of advance programme plans to facilitate smooth execution of safety and maintenance activities across departments, informed a press release.
