A 29-year-old scrap dealer was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a parked autorickshaw in Gajanana Nagar in Hegganahalli on Monday.

According to the police, Abdul Hussein, who owned a scrap godown in Byadarahalli, had reportedly gone to meet his female friend and went offline since then.

A few hours later, the woman’s father had called Abdul’s brother and informed him that Abdul had died by suicide and asked them to come near Gajanana Nagar. However, when Abdul’s relatives reached the location, they found that the woman’s family members had allegedly placed Abdul’s body inside an autorickshaw and fled from the spot.

Abdul’s family later informed the Kamakshipalya police, who visited the scene and began an investigation. Though the woman’s family claims that Abdul died by suicide and that they were taking him to a hospital after lowering him from a noose, Abdul’s relatives have accused them of murder.

The police suspect prima facie that it could be a case of suicide, but are gathering more evidence to confirm the cause of death. The body has been shifted for post-mortem examination.

A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Kamakshipalya police station and the police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
