SEIL Energy India Ltd. is setting up a 50-bed hospital at Brahmadevam village in Muthukur mandal of SPSR Nellore district under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. As per reliable sources, the firm is likely to spend ₹ 20 crore in a phased manner to construct a 50-bed hospital in 1.87 acres of government land, and seeking another acre adjacent to it for establishing a nursing school.
Thousands of workers are employed at various industries in Muthukur mandal, where Adani Krishnapatnam Port is also located. However, there are no major hospitals in the area except Primary Health Centre (PHC). It takes more than an hour to reach Government General Hospital (GGH), which is nearly 30 km away.
Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has already raised this concern on several occasions. He also discussed the same with the government authorities as well as requested the local industrialists to support the cause. Speaking to The Hindu, he informed that SEIL Energy has come forward to provide CSR funds for the construction of a hospital building here.
He said: “SEIL Energy will build and maintain the hospital and a nursing school. The state government will allocate 1.87-acre land, which will be finalised within a couple of days. State Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav also recently spoke to the concerned officials to allot the land for the hospital. If the construction starts, it will be operational within two years.”
When asked about the same, the company’s CEO Janmejaya Mahapatra said: “We are committed to empowering our local communities, focusing on key focus areas like health through our impactful CSR initiatives for over a decade. Noticing a significant gap in healthcare access, we have decided to take up this hospital project to bring world-class facilities to remote coastal region.”
“This allows us to extend vital services to those who need it most. We are grateful for the State government support in making this possible,” he added. Once the hospital is operational, it is likely to cater the healthcare needs of the people living not only in Muthukur mandal but also in T.P. Gudur mandal of the district.
