The aggrieved residents of Sellipet village in Thirubuvanai staged a road roko to protest against the failure of the government to provide drinking water in the area.

Around 500 families in Sellipet village were finding it difficult to source drinking water for the last three days, the residents said. As their complaints made to authorities had not yielded any result, they decided to block Thirukkanur – Puducherry Road. They squatted on the stretch and also placed tree branches across the road to prevent vehicular movement.

As movement of vehicles got affected, the police pacified the residents to withdraw the agitation.
