Bengaluru’s Shivaji Madappagowdar and Hubballi’s Shaheen S.D. emerged winners in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, at the State-level cross country 10 km race organised on Sunday by the District Olympics Association and Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation.
Shivaji clocked 30 minutes and 46 seconds to clinch the top spot in the men’s event, while Shaheen completed the women’s race in 39 minutes and 8 seconds to secure the first place.
In the boys category, Kumaragouda Patil from Dharwad bagged the first position, while in the girls category, Lakshmi Obbannavar, also from Dharwad, took the top honour.
State-level results for the 10 km men’s category: Shivaji Madappagowdar (Bengaluru), Sunil Belagavi (Belagavi), Prabhu Lamani (Bagalkot), Balu H. (Dharwad), Chetan Manje (Belagavi) and Parasappa H. (Dharwad) secured the top six positions.
10 km women’s category: Shaheen S.D. (Hubballi), H.V. Deeksha (Shivamogga), Priya Patil (Belagavi), Noorjan Mujawar (Belagavi), Spoorthi Siddhi (Dharwad) and Pratiksha Kurubar (Belagavi) secured the top six positions.
District-level results 4 km boys (Under 16): Kumaragouda Patil (Dharwad), Mahesh Kalagoutti (Dharwad), Manjunath Patil (Hubballi), Sandeep Waddar (Dharwad), Channabasayya Hiremath (Dharwad) and Arjuna Talawar (Hubballi).
4 km girls (Under 16): Lakshmi Obbannavar, Shreya Ganti, Taira Gadad, Rajashree Mared, Suma Nandennavar and Lakshmi G., all from Dharwad.
In the 10 km category, cash prizes were awarded as follows: 1st ₹10,000, 2nd ₹8,000, 3rd ₹7,000, 4th ₹6,000, 5th ₹5,000, and 6th ₹4,000.
In the 4 km category, winners received, 1st ₹6,000, 2nd ₹5,000, 3rd ₹4,000, 4th ₹3,000, 5th ₹2,000 and 6th ₹1,000, along with trophies, said a press release.
