Siddha Medical College will come up in two years in Namakkal, says Minister

Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, on Sunday (November 2, 2025), said that a Siddha Medical College will be established in Namakkal district in two years.

Inaugurating medical infrastructure in the district, including Ayush Hospital with 66 beds and sub-health centres at a total cost of ₹3.34 crore, the Minister said that through Ayush Hospital, people shall avail themselves of treatment, including Siddha. Based on the instructions of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, new district headquarters hospitals are provided to every district. For Namakkal district, two distinct headquarters hospitals at Rasipuram and Tiruchengode were announced and at present, construction works are ongoing and soon the Chief Minister would inaugurate these hospitals.

The old district headquarters hospital in Namakkal was replaced with Ayush Hospital. For homeless people and those with mental disabilities, a special ward with 10 beds was inaugurated. After the DMK came to power, in Namakkal district, medical infrastructure worth ₹365 crore was inaugurated.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister said that the Siddha Medical College would be established in the old government hospital premises and steps were taken to establish a Siddha Medical Research Centre at Kolli Hills.

Regarding dengue prevention, the Minister said that after the DMK came to power, dengue cases were in control. “A total of 66 people died in 2012 and 65 died in 2017 due to dengue. But, DMK reduced the death count to a single digit,” he added. The aim of the government was to save everyone affected from dengue and to bring the death count to zero. In the last 11 months, nine people died of dengue in Tamil Nadu and 18,000 people were affected and discharged.

Earlier, the Minister inspected Senthamangalam Government Hospital and interacted with the patients and their relatives.
