SIR: over 3.21 lakh enumeration forms distributed in Ernakulam in four days

A total of 3,21,229 enumeration forms have been distributed in Ernakulam district as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the four days since the exercise was launched on November 4, 2025.

The forms have been distributed to 12.11% of the total voters in the district as on October 27, 2025, District Collector G. Priyanka said here on Friday (November 7, 2025). Calling the exercise a simple process, the Collector urged the public to participate actively.

Kunnathunad Assembly constituency tops the list in the distribution of forms at 17.15%. The booth level officers (BLOs) have distributed the forms to 32,556 of the total 1,89,881 voters in the constituency. Angamaly comes second with 16.41% (29,508 of 1,79,808), followed by Aluva with 15.19% (30,607 of 2,01,483). The Ernakulam Assembly segment comes at the bottom of the list with only 7.61%. The BLOs there have distributed the forms to 12,650 of the 1,66,283 voters in the constituency.

The Collector said the district administration aims to speed up the distribution of the forms in the coming days. “All BLOs will be on the field on Saturday and Sunday as we expect people to be at home during the weekend. The aim is to distribute the forms to as many people as possible in the two days. I request the cooperation of all, especially residents associations and apartment associations, to complete the procedures,” Ms. Priyanka told the media at the collectorate.

A total of 2,325 BLOs have been deployed by the district administration to carry out the SIR procedures. They have to distribute the forms to all existing voters and get them back, filled in, by December 4.

The Collector said the BLOs were trying to collect the filled-in forms on the same day in areas where accessibility is a problem, while in other places they will return later to receive them. “BLOs have been instructed to visit a house three times if residents are unavailable initially. No document has to be submitted with the filled-in form,” she said. Deputy Collector (Election) Sunil Mathew was present.
