Six arrested, over 2.7 kg ganja seized in excise raids

Six individuals involved in sale and transportation of ganja were arrested in three separate operations carried out by the State Task Force (STF) of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department across the city over the past two days. The officials seized over 2.7 kilograms of ganja among other items during the raids.

In the first case, STF-B team raided the residence of ganja kingpin (also called – ganja queen) Neetu Bai in Nanakramguda following specific information that narcotics were being sold from the premises. The checks led to a seizure of 786 grams of ganja, 110 beer bottles, a bike and ₹60,890 in cash reportedly earned through illegal sales.

Three individuals – Govind, Durgesh and Neetu Bai’s son Durga Prasad – were arrested. During questioning, the accused are said to have admitted that they had been sourcing ganja from Odisha and distributing it locally. The seized material and the accused were handed over to the Serilingampally excise station for further investigation.

In a separate operation, STF- A team unearthed a supply network in Manguru Basti (also known as Mangar Basti) in Nampally, recovering 1.2 kilograms of ganja. Two women, identified as Kamble Parimala and S. Basanthi, both natives of Odisha, were arrested.

Efforts are underway to trace two others identified as Saket Babu and Kamble Murali, who are currently on the run. The contraband was handed over to Nampally excise station.

In the third case, the STF C team apprehended a man identified as Mangli Naresh in Nehru Nagar, where he was found selling ganja. Sleuths seized 710 grams of the substance and produced both the accused and the material before the Serilingampally excise station.

Further investigation is under way in all the cases.
