Rescue efforts under way at the site of the accident on Outer Ring Road near Red Hills.

Six passengers were injured after an omni bus enroute to Tiruvannamalai skidded off the road near Red Hills on Tuesday. A luxury bus was carrying around 50 passengers from Gummidipoondi and proceeding towards the temple town for girivalam. When the bus driver applied the brakes to avoid hitting a lorry in front of the vehicle, he lost control, causing the bus to veer off the road on the Pammadhukulam stretch of Outer Ring Road and falling into a small ditch. The police, with the help of the public, undertook rescue operations and extricated those trapped inside the bus. The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on Outer Ring Road.
