To provide alternate transport for passengers affected by IndiGo Airlines flight cancellations, Southern Railway will operate special trains and add extra air-conditioned coaches to some trains.

In a press release, Southern Railway said that one additional AC three-tier coach will be provided on long-distance trains operating on Saturday (December 6, 2025), including the Tiruchchirappalli-Jodhpur Humsafar Express (20482) and the Dr. MGR Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express (12695), Dr. MGR Chennai Central-Mangaluru Central Superfast Express (12601), and the Chennai Beach-Mumbai CST Superfast Express (22158).

Similarly, one AC three-tier coach will be added to the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Dr. MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express (12696) and Mumbai CST-Chennai Beach Superfast Express (22157) to be operated on Sunday (December 7), and the Jodhpur-Tiruchirappalli Humsafar Express (20481) train scheduled on December 10.

Moreover, special trains — Secunderabad-Chennai Egmore (07146) and Chennai Egmore-Secunderabad (07147) — will be operated from 6.40 p.m. on Saturday and 12.30 p.m. on Sunday, respectively.

Other special trains include the Nagercoil to Tambaram Superfast (December 7) and the Tambaram-Nagercoil Superfast (December 8).
