As the collection and digitisation of enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls progress across the State, Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar put the number of forms that have been digitised at close to 20 lakh.

Mr. Kelkar said that 19,90,178 enumeration forms had been digitised till 6 p.m. on Friday.

The number constitutes 7.15% of the forms distributed to a little over 2.78 crore voters in the State.

The distribution of forms had begun on November 4. As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission (EC), the first stage constituting distribution, collection and digitisation of the forms will be completed by December 4.

The EC is planning to publish the draft SIR rolls on December 9.

The functioning of ‘Collection Hubs’ are also progressing smoothly, according to him. At these hubs, booth level officers (BLOs) are assisted by election officials and Electoral Literacy Clubs in collecting and uploading the digitised forms.

According to Mr. Kelkar, 45,249 voters had submitted their information using the online facility. This number represents just 0.16% of the voters as on October 27.

Meanwhile, the number of ‘untraceable forms’—designating voters who have not been traced—have risen to 1,01,856.

Mr. Kelkar said these data may not be complete as all BLOs have not uploaded their complete data yet.

The CEO also held a videoconference with the BLOs who have completed 100% digitisation of the forms. Several BLOs told the meeting that they were able to complete the process in four days, the CEO’s office said in a statement. He lauded their commitment and zeal.

Meeting with political parties

Mr. Kelkar will hold the weekly SIR review meeting with political parties on Saturday. These meetings have been a regular feature ever since the exercise kicked off in Kerala.
